Description of Services: Public health programs, information and support for parents and families during pregnancy, after baby is born and during early childhood until the start of school

Services include:
  • Information on many pregnancy and parenting topics on the website
  • In-person and virtual prenatal education sessions
  • Telephone support from a Public Health Nurse
  • Home visits with a Public Health Nurse relating to pregnancy, infant feeding, parenting, and more
  • Information available for healthcare providers, licensed childcare centres, and community service providers
 
Smart Start for Babies A weekly in-peron free prenatal group education and nutrition support program for pregnant individuals and young adults (teens) who have a difficult time accessing healthy food * partners or a support person are also encouraged to attend
 
Telephone Support for Families Free, confidential information and phone support from a Public Health Nurse about topics such as pregnancy, postpartum recovery, postpartum mental health, breastfeeding, infant feeding and nutrition, early child development, safety, sleep, positive parenting, community supports and resources


Breastfeeding - Variety of breastfeeding supports available (see Middlesex-London Health Unit - Pregnancy and Parenting - Breastfeeding)

Healthy Babies Healthy Children - Home visiting program with a public health nurse who provides health information and support related to healthy eating, pregnancy, breastfeeding, infant care, child development, safety and parenting.  Nurses also assist people in connecting to community supports and resources.  Services are provided any time during pregnancy through to children entering school.

Nurse-Family Partnership - Home visiting program for young, first-time parents during pregnancy and first two years of their child’s life. Nurses will support parents in having a healthy pregnancy, raising healthy children, and meeting school and/or work goals.

Prenatal Health – Free online e-learning education program for pregnant individuals and their support person with information and resources relating to pregnancy, labour and birth, breastfeeding, newborn care and more. 

Smart Start for Babies – A free group prenatal education and nutrition program for people less than 30 weeks pregnant who live with a limited income and have a difficult time accessing healthy food. Partners or a support person are encouraged to attend.

Telephone Support for Families - Free, confidential information and phone support from a Public Health Nurse about topics such as pregnancy, postpartum recovery, postpartum mental health, infant feeding and nutrition, early child development, safety, sleep, positive parenting, community support and other resources.
